HOW TO GET HELP

Our purpose is to serve all who come to us in need and we understand that using the services of a food bank for the first time can sometimes be a difficult experience.  Our staff will do their very best to make you feel at home and welcome during your visit. Individuals and families may use our service every 21 days .  Clients must reside in areas within Elgin County where there is no other food bank.

St Thomas Elgin Food Bank is located at 24 John Street, St. Thomas.

INFORMATION REQUIRED TO REGISTER

The following documentation is required for assistance

  • One piece of identification for each family member or person residing in the household
  • Verification of address – rent receipt or utility receipt
  • Source of income if any (such as an Ontario Works, Ontario Disability, EI, Employment, Child Tax Benefit, etc.)

Monday to Thursday  10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Our Foodbank helpline (519-878-3663) is monitored Monday – Thursday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Please TEXT or call and leave your contact information and we will return your text/call.  For food assistance or donations, please ring the back doorbell.

Please note that we are closed on statutory holidays.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The food bank is available to you every 21 days. Please text our Food Bank Help Line at 519-878-3663 to order your food hamper. Should you require further assistance please contact Sarah Coleman, Manager of Operations at the food bank via text, phone, or email.

Please TEXT (or call) the Food Bank Help Line to preorder your food hamper – you will be given a time and day to pickup your food items. Our food bank is located at 24 John Street at the back door entrance. Please ring the bell and let them know you are here to pick up your order.

You must present ID every time you access services. Please have valid ID ready to present. If you do not have a Driver’s Licence, AOM Card, or other government ID, please contact the helpline for alternate acceptable forms of identification.

Please bring your own totes, or reusable bags to carry your food. St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank has gone “green” and no longer provides plastic grocery bags.
